Families Helped by Your Donations

Barret Family, Danao, Bohol
Mr. & Mrs. Barret told us that they were both inside their home when the 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Bohol. They escaped unharmed, but their home was destroyed.

Mrs. Pacatang, Sevilla, Bohol
While she walked back home from the market, the earthquake shook her house down to rubble. Her son was out working in the field at the time.

Suarez Family, Balilihan, Bohol
Mr. Suarez had saved to build a block home for his family on the top of a hill. When the earthquake hit, he and his son were at the foot of the hill tending to their carabao. They rushed to the top to find their home in rubbles. Mrs. Suarez and daughter were at a doctor's appointment at the time. To rebuild for the Suarez Family, From Tent to Home partnered with Madam Pureza, the wife of former Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto.

Baricuatro Family, Buenavista, Bohol
The lives of this family of 7 instantly changed when their home collapsed. We hired Mr. Baricuatro to rebuild his family's own home, as well as the homes of 3 other families. We also employed his brother and one other carpenter. The eldest son, Kenneth, wants to go to college, and has an interest in photography. I have taken some time to give photography tips with my camera. Some day I hope to be able to gift Kenneth a starter camera for him to develop his photography skills.

Ruta Family, Cabilao Island, Bohol
Nelson and I happened to meet the Ruta Family near the Maribojoc church ruins. They were living in a makeshift shelter made from the remains of their home, collecting rainwater for everyday use. But not adequately protected when it rained. Teenage son, Marvin, helped his dad and Mr. Baricuatro rebuild. We were also able to find a new fishing boat and motor for Mr. Ruta, which greatly improved the family's ability to make a living. Marvin hopes to go to Seaman's school after high school graduation, to support his family.
This family needs immediate help for this school year. Sponsors for uniforms, supplies and fees will provide the opportunity for the school-aged children to attend school. Otherwise, they cannot afford to go to school.

Mirantos Family, Loon, Bohol
Nelson and I were driving by on a motorcycle on the Bohol National Highway. By chance I saw a house that look lopsided. One side had fallen off of its foundation post. I said, "HEY NELSON, LOOK!"
We did a safe U-turn so that we could investigate. As we interviewed Ms. Jocelyn, it began to rain. IT WAS RAINING INSIDE TOO!
We knew this family had to be included in our mission! The Mirantos family includes grandparents, daughter and 3 granddaughters.
From Tent to Home's carpenter, Mr. Baricuatro, and his brother rebuild this home too.
HOME REPAIR PROJECTS
From Tent to Home has repaired the roof for one family in Tagbilaran, and rebuilt missing walls for a family in Anda, Bohol. When it rained, the Anda family had to huddle over on one side of their half-built home, until we stepped in to give them a whole home.

EDUCATION NEEDS
Since 2014, we have been sending balikbayan boxes with books, paper, pencils, pens, videos and other school supplies. We want to keep sending these care boxes to the Philippines. The teachers and schools are truly grateful for the help! Teachers and students benefit from our efforts. That is why we need other kind and compassionate people to be a part of our team.
Nelson's schoolmate, Ryan Uy, contacted us about four kids who were living on their own in Cavite, south of Manila. They needed urgent help with school supplies, fees, and even an allowance for daily food. Through From Tent to Home, caring donors were able to make sure these siblings could return to school and have enough nourishment to survive from day to day.
