100% of all funds raised go directly to the relief efforts.
Welcome to From Tent to Home
A heartfelt mission making a huge difference.
Our approach to this humanitarian work of love is simple and effective:
- We arrange to visit LOCAL vendors, and buy LOCAL materials.
- We support LOCAL carpenters and contractors.
. . . all without a middle man
Trusting local business and local labor makes sense, and it is the very best use of funds that you give from your heart.
I am Bruce Wyatt. Teacher, photographer and explorer.
I started From Tent to Home so that people like you and me could help students and families in need. It is just my partner (Nelson) and me . . . AND people like you, in this mission. No middle man. 100% of all donations go directly to this mission of love and compassion.
What set me on this course was a major earthquake in October 2013 that turned many lives upside down on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. This particular morning disaster displaced thousands of families. In less than 2 minutes, many lost everything. Most didn't have the funds to rebuild on their own.
The Philippines has a special place in my heart. The pictures of families living in tents touched my heart. I decided to do something more than just talk. I asked my buddy Nelson to partner with me, since he knows the language and how things work there. Then I began just asking people to donate a little bit to make this mission happen!
On our first projects in January 2014, we visited folks to see for ourselves their destroyed homes and makeshift living conditions. Sleeping, cooking, eating, bathing, studying for school, etc., in not-so-sanitary conditions . . . everything was difficult. Heartbreaking. Our initial visit put in motion the rebuilding of the lives of 4 hurting families. A second mission later successfully rebuild two more homes, and repaired other homes.
I know From Tent to Home has made and keeps making a real difference in the lives of families in need. Our work is simple and small scale. The aid means the world to the people we have touched.
Our secondary mission: provide funds for other family needs such as school. Students can attend classes and buy school supplies because of generous donations. Often if a student cannot afford to pay for supplies, uniforms and school fees, they are just not allowed to go to school. This is not how education should work.
Also because of generous and compassionate partners like you, there was one fishing family who got a new, bigger boat and motor to make a better living. Their son, Marvin, has hopes to be a an electrical engineer so that he to earn a good living for his parents and sisters when he leaves home. Marvin had to stop his college classes because the family can't afford tuition right now. Let's get Marvin back in school now.

How Can You Help? Be a Project Sponsor!
1. PROJECT EMERGENCY SHELTER / FOOD / WATER!:
This urgent project will help provide life-saving essentials to families who lost their homes when Super Typhoon Rai/Odette hit the central Philippines.
2. PROJECT SCHOOL: Ongoing school aide is one way to help today. There is a family in Cabilao, Bohol now who is seeking school sponsorship for one high school boy and two younger girls. The school year begins in early June. Who could offer a small monthly budget, or a one-time donation? Projected execution for school aid is: Every end of May, plus throughout the year when needs are identified.
3. Planning is ongoing for our next home building missions, contingent on fund raising. When we reach fund goals, the next build phase will begin. You can make a one-time donation, or plan to set aside a monthly donation. We will make help more families build safe and permanent housing.
While government and other agencies provide immediate assistance, we try to scout for where we can help with housing and other needs. COVID-19 made it impossible to physically be in the Philippines in 2020 and most of 2021. Let's work together with trusted people who are already on the ground there to make more happen in 2022!
Why does this project mean so much? Well, I can imagine how it would feel to want to go to school, but not have the money to do so. Or to lose the shelter of my home, or to not be able to provide for my family. I would be so grateful if someone offered a helping hand.
I do know what it feels like to lose a home. Personally. I was so grateful for the help and support of friends and family when a fire damaged the home I was renting in South Carolina. My young son and I lost so much, but fortunately we were safe and unhurt.
Thank you for your help, your love and human compassion. Donate today to support real projects that you can believe in. It feels great to sponsor a family in need.
Also, would you please spread the word? Share From Tent to Home with your church, your family and your friends!
